The true test of your trust in God is when you can come to a place of complete obedience to him. Why is that? Well, obedience to someone means that you will listen and do the things that they instruct you to do. So, how can you do what someone asks of you if you don’t either trust them or simply have no choice but to do it? With God, we always have choice which means our obedience to him must be because we trust Him! for instance, your doctor may tell you to eat a carrot instead of a chocolate bar as part of your daily diet. When you choose to eat that carrot, this is obedience. Now, indirectly, you are telling your doctor that you trust them to give you good direction for your health. Your obedience to your doctor wouldn’t be because you have no choice, right? Your doctor cannot shove that carrot down your throat! Therefore if you actually obey, it is because you trust that the doctor is leading you in a good direction for your own health! It is the same with God!

Your obedience to God will help you build a strong relationship with him. You will begin to trust him more because you will realize that everything He asks you to do is for your own benefit! and because of that your faith in him will grow deeper and deeper. Take note that I said your faith will grow deeper. Why? Because faith is the foundation of your relationship with God. It is what will uphold you throughout your journey with Him in this lifetime. When builders build, their foundation must be deep in order to build a tall building! The taller the building, the deeper the foundation must be! Likewise, if you want your relationship with God to be great, your faith must be deep. And for your faith to be deep, you must live a life of obedience to Him.

Some of you, may have had someone in your life whom you trusted to lead and guide you in life! Whenever they’ve ask you to do something, you’ve obeyed to the extent where they began to take advantage of your obedience and submission to them to fulfill their own desires. As a result, you may have experienced disappointments time and time again from someone you trusted to help lead your life and that person may have been even a parent or guardian. So, now you are carrying this experience into your relationship with God thinking he will disappoint you too, but as you read this, God wants to heal your heart. That person who took advantage will have to answer to God. But right now, your obedience to God is necessary. It is for your own good. He loves you enough that he desires to lead you to green pastures and still waters. It doesn’t mean that you will always be comfortable with everything he asks you to do along the way since part of his plan for you is to train you to come out of your comfort zone! However, he promises to never leave you nor forsake you. And I know for a fact that He is a God who keeps His promises! I also know that the result of your obedience to him is a successful and abundant life through Christ Jesus!

I urge you to decide today that you will live your life in obedience to God! You will never regret it!
